Experts: Number of DDoS attacks in Russia falls 28% in Jul–Sep

MOSCOW, Oct 16 (PRIME) -- The number of DDoS attacks in Russia shrank by 28% on the year in July–September, while the indicator soared by 43% on the global scale, cybersecurity company StormWall said on Monday.

“The decrease is mainly explained by lower activity of politically motivated hacktivists recently,” the firm said, adding that the situation in the world differs strongly from the situation in Russia.

They said that 32% of all the attacks in the country targeted the state sector, 21% aimed at the financial sector, and 14% the transport industry.

Perpetrators tried to attack retail, the entertainment sphere, the energy sector, oil companies, manufacturing.

The specialists saw fewer DDoS attacks in July–September on all the key industries than a year ago.
